What made Vice cool was the wild nature of their stories. They made big stories with small crews and no one could touch that.
However, viewers had to wade through the glut of juvenile drug and skateboard culture content to get to it.
Later on, sensationalism in headline and sanitation in content partially killed the brand. The writers and producers didn't get old, they were underpaid and mistreated as employees (sexual harassment) before and after being bought by private capital.
