What a wonderful take on running in Oakland, Paul. I've had my fair share of adventures with other runners in Oakland (and Berkeley) and the area holds a special fondness in my heart. Especially for the diversity, as you mentioned.

Oakland may have its ups and downs, but it is scrappy with working-class roots, and it is an amazing environment for running.
