This was a great read. The foam stuff shoots pretty far and kills near instantly, so you can stay clear. You wait until sundown when they are docile (same as bees and wasps).
You can also use the dust with a hand duster. There's a bunch of silica in drione dust that removes the moisture from their exteriors, causing them to dehydrate and die. It's a longer process, but more likely to get them all. Before dying a horrible death, they spread the dust all around their nest causing the others to to die.
You can buy both and appropriate PPE for less than the cost of a single visit from the pest company.
I pay the pest company for a regular perimeter spray, but this is a 10-minute job once you have the gear. Fuck them hornets.
