The algorithm is what rewards the nonsense, but we collectively affect the algorithm. Writers won't write boring retreads of the same stories, follow tens of thousands of people, or take down and mildly rewrite an old article unless they're getting rewarded for their bad behavior.

We should all look at our own follow list and ask: are the people we are following and interacting with writing high-quality, interesting, engaging content or not? If they aren't, then maybe stop giving them so much oxygen.

It doesn't matter if they have 1k, 10k, 30k, or even 50k followers. I can think of a few that tend to reproduce the same content over and over and over again. It gets old and it really sucks the life out of this vibrant place. Enough is enough.

I appreciate your thoughtful approach, Nour. There are far too many who engage in hero worship and gloss over the quality of the writing, which should be a defining qualitative factor for success.
