Superhero comics are just soap operas where thematic elements are used and reused over and over.

The characters can change and ebb and flow with time. They can become men, women, monsters, demons, die and get resurrected, and so on. It's all part of the fun. As long as the stories are interesting, nothing else matters and we can all enjoy as we please.
