If it works, it works. There are so many cognitive tricks we use to get ourselves to complete goals.
Sometimes I'm running, and I start getting bored out of my mind. I start counting telephone poles, trying to remember streets names, saying mantras, thinking about dumb stuff I said at the wrong time. Doing anything to keep moving forward.
At the end of the day we are in a race, a race to grave (or crematorium) so whatever actions we can spare to keep moving forward and progressing.
