I like the idea of democratizing the system a bit more and that idea federated idea that Medium and Mastodon share.

Readers are the professionals when it comes to what they like, and it makes sense to lean into their tastes and preferences more, when possible.

The biggest issue is that of trust. How do we trust that certain writers, publications, or other affiliations aren't getting iced out of the process?

Medium showed a lot of thoughtfulness with how they decided to approach boosts and cryptocurrency articles, but I would love to see that same kind of thoughtfulness for lesser-loved genres of writing.
