I grew up in Fremont, the home of Tesla, and got to witness the visible smog layer from the top of Mission Peak every time I hiked it as a child. As an adult, that smog layer is no longer visible.

Adoption of electric transportation has a noticable effect on smog, as did some of the predecessor inventions like catalytic converters, hybrid vehicles, and regenerative braking.

I'm all for using what we have available when it's available. If you fall and break your hip at the estate, you won't be riding your bicycle to your PT sessions. Personal transportation is necessary and useful.
