I don't know that this is an example of former employees being fake. Getting a fat severance and knowing there are likely opportunities for you in the same industry and perhaps even as a consultant for the same company means they don't have to be as stressed out. Every industry is a little different, but there are still plenty of opportunities in tech in the Bay Area.
