A couple of thoughts on Phil McGraw. Dr. Phil hasn't held a psychology license since he voluntarily surrendered in 2006. That means he never meaningfully used the DSM-V (2013) or the current form, the DSM-V-TR (2022).

Dr. Phil's postdoc training was in forensic psychology, which has an emphasis in criminality, law, court involvement, etc. His dissertation was on rheumatoid arthritis. He does not have relevant experience in diagnosis nor does he have the categorical expertise that could be used in constructing the DSM.

I won't put a label on him, but I will say that no man can serve two masters. Master Nielsen will be expecting his due.
